Heartless

"One can draw a straight line from the young man who pinned down a terrified teenager and walked a blind man into a closed door, to the adult who put the family dog in a kennel and strapped it to the roof of the car, to the businessman who laid off hundreds of people, cancelled their health benefits, and paid himself millions while their company went bankrupt. And the line continues: the governor who slashed education and raised fees on the middle class, and the possible president who would use his power to cut taxes on his fellow millionaires while pushing for the gradual demise of traditional Medicare."

  1. That's why I'm writing in a name -- either Jill Stein or Rocky Anderson or Bernie Sanders. Anyone but Romney or Obama.

  2. As US politicians go, Bernie comes closest to my way of thinking about most issues. Certainly he is one of the very few who seem to give a rat's ass about Americans who aren't millionaires and billionaires (or corporations).

  3. And now we have news that a judge in New York did her duty and actually upheld the Constitution, which these days is a radical act: she blocked a critical provision of the NDAA.

Of course, the NYT not only hasn't put it on its front page, it doesn't see fit to cover the story at all! All the news that's fit to print. Yeah, right.

Bravo to Chris Hedges. And to Daniel Ellsberg. And to Judge Forrest. And to everyone who signed onto this lawsuit.

Now the Obama administration will come back to fight it. "Our" guy at work. Liberty and justice for some!

  4. P.S. Great statement by Judge Katherine Forrest:

"This Court is acutely aware that preliminarily enjoining an act of Congress must be done with great caution. However, it is the responsibility of our judicial system to protect the public from acts of Congress which infringe upon constitutional rights."

    BRAVA!!
